As of September 24, 2025, the Sunrise Schoolhouse has a new home at the Almelund Threshing Company showgrounds. We are pleased to have preserved this part of the Sunrise community history.
Moving a building is expensive and the associated costs with making the building a permanent fixture on the showgrounds is another budget-buster. They are still in need your help to continue to raise money to cover those costs. Click the button below to learn more and donate!

Preserve Historic Building: Help Fund the Move
The current Royal Wilcox Community Center and former schoolhouse will be moved to the Threshing grounds located in Almelund and restored if the funds can be raised. See attached flyer for information and to make a donation. The Sunrise Townboard voted in July to sell the building to the Almelund Threshing Company for $1. The bill of sale was finalized January 16, 2025.
